Help needed for my article - references
by LouBelle inhi everyone, as some of you know i'm writing an article about my life in the organisation and the journey out of it.
it's amazing how the words just flow and come so easy.. i've quoted from memory a couple of watchtowers or publications but as i got rid of my written research and all my literature a couple of years back, can't go back and check the actual dates/pages and such.
if anyone recognises the following and where they come from i'd appreciate it:.

My Personal Proof That Elders Are Not Appointed by Holy Spirit
by TMS inthis topic is not about men living sinfully at the time of their appointment as elders.
it is not about pedophile elders, although i've personally known three, two who were pedophiles at the time of their appointment by the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.. first of all a quick summary of what jehovah's witnesses are taught about the appointment of elders and ministerial servants:.
before the visit of the circuit overseer, the local elders meet to consider who, if any, among the local congregation they will recommend as elders or .

Let me introduce myself - slimboyfat
by slimboyfat ini was simultaneously compelled and repelled by narkissoss suggestion that it may be healthy to present a story of how we became witnesses that we can now own as former or disillusioned witnesses.
if we can now own it wouldnt it necessarily be a betrayal?
whose story is it, mine or a former self or just wishful thinking?

Ever hear an experience at an assembly that you KNOW was slanted?
by Bonnie_Clyde ini remember one at a district assembly.
a brother was being interviewed as to why he never chose over time work at his job.
he said he worked for a small printing company and that he was content with working regular hours.

Judicial Committees and the 'Two Witnesses' Rule
by Joe Grundy ini'm not and never have been, etc.. i was not even aware jcs existed until a couple of months ago - but now i understand a lot more from the postings i have read (and i find some them tragic).. two thoughts struck me as an outsider.. the first is to agree with the advice/suggestions given by many posters that submission to the jc process is a voluntary thing.
in the real world any court or tribunal can only act or consider issues if it has 'competent jurisdiction', laid down by law.
a jc only has 'competent jurisdiction' over a jw if the jw consents to that jurisdiction.

Reasons for not becoming APOSTATE
by slimboyfat in1. apostates are divided among themselves and have nothing better to offer.
2. most left because they can't reach the high moral standards of jehovah's witnesses.. .
3. all apostates can do is tear down the truth and offer nothing substantial in its place.

"Privileges"
by Joe Grundy inyet another question (two actually), i'm afraid (but i am learning from all this, honestly!)..
i've seen the term 'privileges' on here many times, and i think i now understand that it means 'being allowed to carry out tasks in the congregation' - which includes walking round with the microphone, operating the pa system, etc.
in the services.
